The objective of the Belgian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (formerly, Belgian Society of EEG and Clinical Neurophysiology) is to promote all methods of functional assessment of the nervous system. In keeping with this fundamental objective, which can only be attained through an active participation of its members, three main approaches have been privileged :
An in-depth reflection on the repositioning of Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG, evoked potentials, EMG) with respect to both the clinical evaluation and other techniques (in particular, structural and functional imaging : MRI, PET, SPECT) currently used in clinical and fundamental neurosciences.
An optimal access of its members to the most relevant information, through annual meetings and with the help of Internet.
To provide young neurophysiologists with all means to promote themselves and the discipline, both at a national and international level, and to help them play an active role in the internal organization of the Society
The Society is open to all disciplines of fundamental and clinical neurosciences: neurology, neuropediatrics, psychiatry, revalidation medicine, ophthalmology, NTO, psychology. It is also involved in the multiple economical, medico-legal, ethical, and philosophical debates aroused by the exponential development of neurosciences at the beginning of this 3d millennium.
Finally, as a member of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN), the Belgian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology is playing an active role in the international life of Clinical Neurophysiology and, in return, takes advantage of the IFCN support.
Please do not hesitate to contact for further information.
Yours sincerely.,
Dr. Alain Maertens de Noordhout
